Why We Believe What We Believe

The Church of Christ

1. IT IS RIGHT IN ITS BUILDER Matthew 16:13-19. The church we read of in the New Testament was built on that great bedrock of Truth that Jesus is the Son of God.

2. IT IS RIGHT IN ITS SOURCE OF AUTHORITY Ephesians 1:20-23. The Bible teaches that the church has one head – Christ. Colossians 1:18, “And he is the head of the body, the church”. 2. Ephesians 5:23-25, “For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing. Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;”

3. IT IS RIGHT IN ITS CHURCH GOVERNMENT Philippians 1:1. Christ is the head of the church. Hence He is called the King. 1 Timothy 6:15 calls Jesus the, “blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords.” In the New Testament we read that each congregation had a plurality of elders if there were men qualified. The qualifications are set forth in

1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1. We also see Deacons serving under the leadership of the elders.

4. IT IS RIGHT IN ITS WORSHIP Colossians 3:17.

Bro. Williams obeyed the Gospel in 1948 at the Capleville Church of Christ and started preaching the gospel In Forrest City, AR. He attended Nashville Christian Institute in 1952 under the leadership of Bro. Marshall Keebler. He then went on to preach in Coldwater, MS in 1955 and Kyleton, MS in 1961. He retired from the Kyleton Church of Christ in 1999. He has been married to Lottie Williams for 64 years and has 5 children.
